Moment SP2
Creating public connection
Our team, in collaboration with the San Jose Downtown Association and Gensler, completely transformed the ground floor of a banal parking structure. This innovative project, known as MOMENT pop-up retail kiosks, serves as a remarkable example of urban planning for the revitalization of downtown areas. By introducing pop up retail kiosks for local artists and makers, the bottom street facing portion of a parking structure was transformed and emphasized the vibrant street life of San Pedro Street, which previously existed only on one side of the street. To enhance the experience, a linear parklet adjacent to the four retail spaces was created, providing a spacious area for seating and movement.

The design of the project embraces simplicity, featuring natural wood tones complemented by bold colors that invite pedestrians to enter one of the tenant stalls. This pop up retail experiment serves as a temporary home for small local businesses, allowing them to gain attention and generate excitement for their products and merchandise. The pop-up retail tenants rotate every one to two months, ensuring a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
